Does Sponsorgoal have any tips on fundraising?

Of course! Here are some Tips and Best Practices below!

Best Practices For Fundraising

The directors at SponsorGoal.com have helped people like you raise hundreds of thousands of dollars over the past 25 years. We understand what great fund raisers do to be successful.

Tips:

•Communicate!

Talk to your audience, converse with them. Socialize with your community and donors! A campaign that provides constant interaction and communication is a proven way to attract donors. Whether it be adding weekly updates to your progress or by answering comments left on your campaign, donor’s will feel much more comfortable knowing there is a face to the project.

• When creating your page

Be sure to customize your page by sharing your unique story, your fund-raising goal, and by adding a supporting video or image. A compelling story will engage your audience and help them share in your dream. Please make sure your page does not contain material that is copyright protected. Also, we will remove offensive text or images, so we ask that you keep it clean!

•When promoting your page

Ask your closest friends and family to sponsor you first. Having donations on your page prior to promoting your cause to your social network will encourage others to help you reach your goal. Be sure to ask your network of family and friends to pass along your page to others who might be interested in sponsoring you.
Don’t assume they will. Ask and make sure!

•Offer Rewards/Perks

To give donors an incentive, you may decide to offer your potential sponsors/contributors a benefit, perk or reward for their donations. Any reward should be stated clearly on your fundraising page. For example, a beauty pageant contestant might include on their fundraising page:

A $25 contribution will get you an autographed photo

A $100 contribution will get you a personal appearance by me with my crown and sash at your next party,
event or place of business, if I am fortunate enough to win the Pageant

Keep in mind that you as a fund raiser are wholly responsible for fulfilling any obligations (Perks) you listed on the fundraising page you created.

SponsorGoal will not be held responsible for any fundraiser that does not meet their obligations

As you begin collecting funds

Be persistent. Often an initial request needs to be followed by one or more reminders. You may have more success getting lots of small donations from smaller businesses than a large donation from a big business.

•Don’t overlook companies you spend money with

Displaying detailed cost information helps legitimize your request and it opens the eyes of potential sponsors who may underestimate the costs involved and aren’t aware of the magnitude of your goal.

An example for fundraising for a beauty pageant might include detailing the other costs that may be involved in addition to the entrance fee to join the pageant, for example:

•You may need an evening gown, swimsuit and interview suit

•Contestants may be required to sell ad pages in a souvenir program book

•There may be a requirement to buy admission tickets to the pageant

•Perhaps a gym membership is needed to get into shape for a swimsuit competition

•And one last thing…remember to always send a thank you note to your sponsors

Don’t just stop there! These are just some basic tips to help provide some idea’s to help expand your campaign. The more initiative you show to potential donors, the more likely they will be to support your goal.
